What is SEO: A general Overview-How to Do it Effectively.
When I searched Google for the term “What is SEO?” it gave me Results which are given below. Though these definitions or answers do gives an overview of the query, still, some more briefing needs to be done further as every search result has a different approach to Explain the same, so do I.
Talking about search results on Google, SEO is:-
As per Wikipedia:-
Search engine optimization is the process of increasing the quality and quantity of website traffic by increasing the visibility of a website or a web page to users of a web search engine. SEO refers to the improvement of unpaid results and excludes direct traffic/visitors and the purchase of paid placement.
As per searchengineland (.)Com:-
SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” It is the process of getting traffic from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” search results on search engines.
Search Engine Optimization is the process of increasing the number of visitors to a website by ranking high in the search results of a search engine.
With the above definitions you must have understood, what is SEO? Right? And now we will talk about what is the process and how it is done.
So again we take an Example from Google only, when I searched for “What is SEO,” it gave me a results page, please refer to the image.

Confused? You must be, because nowadays whenever someone asks a question, the answer that they get is as per the understanding of the person who is answering it and the facts can be different.
Yes, that’s true. All the definitions given above are just trying to express “Why should we do SEO?” and not “What is SEO?”
So let’s not stretch things further and quickly understand, What is SEO? As per my understanding,
“Search Engine Optimization or SEO is the Process of Optimizing your Website in such a manner that Any search engine can recognize your website as the perfect answer for a particular search term, in addition to it, Search engine rankings are based upon numerous factors such as the relevance of content on your page, Backlinks to your page, Your Domain Authority, and Page Authority, etc.”
Let’s get started with our topic for today, here I will explain every aspect of the image shown above and trust me, that’s all that SEO is. Search Engine Optimization Description:
In the Very First Section of the page, just below the search bar and Menu bar, you will some a number saying results and a time mentioned in brackets as shown below.
This is known as SERP, or Search Engine Result Page and the time specifies the time taken by Google to generate these results. In simple terms, we can say that for the query “What is SEO?” Google has somewhat ‘45, 70, 00,000’ search results or what Google seems to be as the Responses to the query, whether these responses depict the answer to the query or not, that is uncertain even Google can’t verify it. But the results given at the top of the page or in the beginning are certainly the right answer as per them and in most of the cases. Of course, they have their refined Algorithm for it.
Now you must be wondering if there are so many search results then how are you going to rank your new Website or landing page at the Top? You will get to know about it by the end of the document, Don’t Worry!
Coming back to the Topic. The second section of the page is the part where you see the result. “The Title and the Headlines.” This is the most important aspect of Search Engine Optimization.
The title or the Meta title tag of your page is the deal maker and breaker. You should precisely enter a Title to your such as it depicts what the page is all about and also gives additional insights to the user and search engines. This title could be your main keywords, or maybe your heading to the subject and content inside. You should be very careful about what you write in the title tag and should try to follow the webmaster guidelines by various Search engines. The general character count for the meta title as per Google is 65 Characters.
The next important thing is the Meta Description tag which is the Description of your page and gives key insights to search Engines about your page and content in it. The more relevant the description you have, the higher are the chances to get your page ranked. The General Character Count as accepted by Google for your Meta Description is 160 characters.
As per Google: Google sometimes uses tag content to generate snippets, if we think they give users a more accurate description then it can be taken directly from the page content.
Important tip: Your Meta tags should be descriptive and unique. If you do it right, you have a very high probability of getting ranked on First Page. Do a thorough competitor analysis to make it Unique.
The next Part is the Content on the Page. Your Content should be Unique and Descriptive, User understanding and visualization are very important as it is the key standpoint to rephrase or generate quality Content. It’s also very important because sometimes Google creates Snippets from your content rather than Meta if they seem it to be a more helpful then your tags. I told you, they have a very refined Algorithm for the same.
All of the Above information is a part of On-Page SEO strategies and then Comes to the Off-Page SEO Strategies which gives a boost to your page Rankings and helps in getting recognized faster by Search engines. Off-Page SEO is a very different concept but it does have the same approach as On-Page does and that is uniqueness in Content, Concise and Descriptive information sharing and relevant Material Sharing.
